#02 Epoxy vs PET Lamination: Which One Is Right for Your Product?

Choosing between epoxy resin and PET lamination is one of the first decisions a product designer faces when sourcing mini solar panels. Both methods protect solar cells from environmental damage, but they have distinctly different characteristics.

Epoxy Resin Encapsulation

Epoxy resin panels are made by pouring liquid epoxy over the solar cells and allowing it to cure into a hard, transparent shell. The result is a rigid, impact-resistant panel that offers excellent moisture protection. Epoxy panels are ideal for products mounted outdoors in fixed positions, such as solar garden lights, signage, and outdoor sensors.

PET Lamination

PET laminated panels use a thin, flexible polymer sheet bonded to the cells under heat and pressure. These panels are lightweight, flexible, and can be as thin as 1.5mm. They are perfect for portable devices, wearable electronics, and applications where weight and thickness are critical.

How to Choose
