#15 BC Solar Cell Technology: What It Means for Small Solar Panels
Back Contact (BC) solar cell technology moves all electrical contacts to the rear of the cell, creating a clean, busbar-free front surface. This design has significant advantages for small solar panel applications.
How BC Technology Works
In conventional cells, silver busbars on the front surface collect current and shade approximately 3-5{e6ad685ae40cba699c465ad8579c4ef79b63575173bf7e22069e35fc6d733b8f} of the cell area. BC cells eliminate this shading entirely by moving all conductive elements to the back, resulting in higher effective light absorption and efficiency gains of 5-8{e6ad685ae40cba699c465ad8579c4ef79b63575173bf7e22069e35fc6d733b8f} over conventional PERC cells.
Aesthetic Benefits
Without front-side busbars, BC panels have a uniform, all-black appearance that is highly desirable for premium consumer products. This clean look is increasingly important for architectural and visible-installation applications.
Our GEN-BC Series
We introduced our GEN-BC series in 2019, offering panels from 5W to 180W using advanced BC cell technology. These panels combine high efficiency with superior aesthetics, making them ideal for applications where both performance and appearance matter.
